A current exhibit at the Illinois Holocaust Museum tells the story of Rev. Joe DeLaine, a teacher and principal in South Carolina who fought segregation in order to get a fair education for his students. WBEZ’s Richard Steele talked with two of his children about his legacy and joined Morning AMp hosts Brian Babylon and Molly Adams in studio to talk about the not-so-distant past of segregation in the United States.
Following the conversation with Richard, we had caller Abstract Black call in and supplemented the topic with personal experiences and informative perspective on the differences between African-Americans and Black-Africans and their mentalities on racism.
